2/2/13 Saturday Prayers

The Purpose of Saturday Prayers: I write out my prayers on Saturday for three primary reasons:

  1. It is a strategic way for me to prioritize praying for our worship services.
  2. It is a specific way for me to journal my prayers and track God’s activity.
  3. It is a special way for me to invite you to pray in agreement with me as I lead the church.
New and Improved:
  1. I’m going to shorten them and highlight priority prayers to help more people to join us in prayer.
  2. I’m going to prioritize just praying for the worship services unless led otherwise by the Holy Spirit.
  3. I’m committed to providing an honest look into my prayer life because I believe prayer is more caught than taught.
Father,

WOW! WOW! WOW! You are answering so many prayers from our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Thank for Zane Howard’s salvation, now I pray for his healing from cancer. Thank you for the picture of forgiveness, grace, and mercy in the life of a young man and family who are going through a crisis that involves the law. Thank you for the people at Celebrate Recovery who picked up chips for living in freedom over their hurts, habits, and hang-ups for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, 8 years, and 9 years. Can you imagine living in freedom over your strongest sins for that amount of time? Lord Jesus, thank you for the victory and power of the cross being real today. Thank you for all the people in this church who are generous and make such a difference in the lives of people. Thank you for the people who aren’t focused on what they can’t do, but are focused on what they can do. Thank you that there are more answered prayers than I can possibly list. Thank you that we are seeing prayers answered daily. Thank you that people are cultivating good soil and producing a harvest of 100-fold, 60-fold, and 30-fold. Thank you that people are constantly proving that Love Works in and through Highpoint Church.

I pray that we will prove that Love Works in our marriages, families, and friends. I pray that we will prove that Love Works in the city of Memphis. I pray that we will prove that Love Works in every race and every economic class. I pray that we will be a people who build friendships for the sake of eternity. I pray that we will go above and beyond to meet people’s deepest needs. I pray that we will truly increase light and decrease darkness in Urban Education, Single Parents, Recovery, Homeless, and Prison Ministry. I pray that You will provide the leaders, resources, facilities, and servants to start a Love Works Center. I pray that You will give us wisdom, connections, and resources to build friendships with the Latino and African American communities. I pray that we will play an instrumental role in healing the past and building bridges for the future.
I pray that You will use Highpoint to start countless campuses and churches throughout Memphis and the Mid-South. I pray that You will give us an anointing and authority beyond our greatest imagination or ability to ask. I pray that our people will return to You and that You will open the floodgates of heaven upon us. I pray that people, foundations, civic organizations, charitable organizations, and even government organizations will give us facilities to start campuses, churches, and Love Works Centers. I pray that we will start campuses in Southaven, Tupelo, Oxford, Jackson, and Starkville. I pray that we will start campuses in Jackson, TN. I pray that we will start campuses throughout Memphis. I pray that You will fuel this movement beyond our faith. I pray that You will grow our mustard seed of faith into the largest tree in the garden. I pray that You will use our faith to move mountains. We’ll never have enough money to do any of this beforehand so give us the faith to do it before the money comes. Give us the faith to invest in the harvest before the harvest comes.
The harvest is plentiful so I am praying to You as the Lord of the harvest to call forth laborers. I pray for laborers in our children’s ministry on Sundays and Wednesdays. I pray that You will give our people a vision for planting the seed in the good soil of children’s hearts. I pray that You will rise up the leaders and laborers to bring revival and spiritual awakening to the 15 to 30 year olds. I pray that people will pick a day of the week to show up at lunch and pray for revival and spiritual awakening. I pray that every single highpointer who isn’t serving would go to 301 Discover Design and 401 Discover Team. I pray that people will see and understand that You can’t live the Christian life apart from serving. Serving isn’t optional; it is missional.
I pray that Your Holy Spirit will overwhelm us tomorrow and move people to serve in the same way that You moved people to connect. I pray that the Holy Spirit will cause people to do what they wouldn’t do otherwise. I pray for the light to come on tomorrow in people’s mind and hearts so that they will say “yes” to You. I pray that You will give people a vision for serving according to their strengths and skills as well as serving locally and globally. I pray that every individual in this church will decide to become all things to all people that by all means they might save some. I pray that people will live their lives for the sake of the gospel. I pray that You will give people the privilege of sharing in the blessings of others.
Father, I pray that people will prioritize worship tomorrow. I pray that they will pray for our worship services. I pray that they will participate in worship. I pray that they will be passionate according to your personality. I pray that You will show us Your glory tomorrow. I pray that You will show us Your glory so that we can be Your glory. I pray that You change everybody’s paradigm tomorrow and cause them to fully love and embrace what it means to be a servant who is on mission. I pray that people will leave inspired and committed to be a difference maker. I pray that people will be encouraged, equipped, and empowered. I pray that people will commit to being a trusted friend for the sake of eternity and for meeting people’s deepest needs.
I pray that people will see that serving is costly, but will be willing to pay the cost. I pray that people will move past convenience to commitment. I pray that people will catch a vision for the return on the investment. I pray that people will start small, be faithful, and be ready for more. I pray that people will get to share in the blessings of others tomorrow. I pray that people will catch a vision for sharing in the blessings of others. I pray that our church is driven by the privilege and pleasure of sharing in the blessings of others.
I pray that highpointers will be all things to all people that by all means we might save some. I pray that we will win more and more and more all the time. I pray for Holy Week to be off the charts. I pray for more people than we can handle. I pray for maxed out services. I pray for over 200 “Going Publics” stories from Holy Week alone. I pray for unbelievable numbers of people to be saved tomorrow, to commit to go public tomorrow, and to commit to the serve tomorrow. I pray Thee, “Show us Your glory.”
